Isn't She Lovely...

OK-so I have to admit, I was one of those parents that let their baby sleep with them-BAD, I know! Well now she refuses to sleep in her own bed. This particular night we put her in her bed after she fell asleep in ours. Of course 30 minutes later she was crying at me. I REALLY need help with this ladies. If you have any good advise PLEASE share it. I've tried putting her in her bed, and laying with her. I've tried putting her in her room and just standing at the door. NOTHING WORKS..PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me!

How precious! I don't know what to tell you other than "tough love". My ex and I had that problem with his 2 ~ their mom let them sleep with her and when they came to visit they wanted to sleep with us. We just said "no". A few nights of crying but they soon learned.
Good luck.

well have to agree with joani you just have to let them cry it out on their own.

one thing if you haven't tried it yet is reading a book to them while they are in bed. sometimes they will fall asleep while you are reading it to them and if all else fails they got their story for the night which is always a good thing.

but whatever you do start working on it. I know someone that has a 9 year still sleeping with them YUCk

Well, I am the mother of five children - son 19, daughter 18, son 16, son 15 and daughter 9. When the four older children were little they were all little at the same time, I was really good - did everything by the book and definately sweated the small stuff. I was super mom, cook, clean, only worked in nursing while they were at school, pta, scout leader, coach, worked from home while we home schooled for a few years etc... etc.... Then when baby number five came the others were much older and it was much different. Don't sweat the small stuff they grow up quick. If you plan to have more children don't start the sleeping habit again. LOL (live and learn) Maybe a cot in your room at first to get her out of your bed, then ease her into her own when she is a bit older. I know Super Nanny would let her cry it out for a few nights and let it be done with and if that is what you decide it's not going to hurt her. But, you have to decide what works for you and feels best for you and your husband. You know your child better than anyone else. Good luck! We mom's can only do the best we can do, the rest we have to leave to God. Good luck!

I have to say I have had the same problem, what we started doing is putting her in her bed and either singing, reading, or just lying on the floor next to her bed until she fell sleep and went into our bed. She has gotten better, now that she is 3 and has a twin bed, if need be we will just lay next to her until she falls asleep. though I know we will soon have to stop that too, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it!

I have had the same problem with my 5yr old girl... but it is my own fault... when hubby on night shift I go to bed early and like having her snuggle up with me while we read together.
My 8yr old girl was the same but just grew out of it...
PS... I also leave the hallway light on for the girls.. which I am now used to and find it strange in a completly dark room!!!! LOL

Bless you heart! It's hard to break that routine. I'd ease into it. Maybe put a toddler bed in your room and get her in her own bed then transition to her own room.
